THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have started a search  for a woman who allegedly swindled lakhs of rupees from her neighbours after giving them false job promises. A complaint was registered with the Peroorkada police station in this regard the other day. Police said that the woman, Meena, had posed as a staff of the Kerala University. She had fled from the place after fleecing money from the neighbours. Meena, who resided at a rented house near Oolanpara, ‘disappeared’ from the area one month back.

“She cheated her neighbours by offering them jobs in the cleaning section of the Kerala University. Till now, there has been no evidence about where the woman is,” said Peroorkada Circle Inspector Jayachandran. The neighbours who were cheated by the woman are demanding an intensive search for Meena.
