THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Coir Board will organise a ‘Santhigiri Coir Fest’ in connection with the Santhigiri Festival from April 14 to May 31. Government agencies connected with the sector will be putting up exhibition stalls, Coir Board chairman G Balachandran said in a statement.
Research agencies such as Central Coir Research Centre, Central Institute of Coir Technology, National Coir Research and Management Institute, Coconut Development Board, Coirfed, Kerala State Coir Corporation and Foam Mattings India Ltd will put up stalls.
A number of contests are also planned in connection with the festival.
This include coconut tree climbing competition and a coir spinning competition.
The Coir Board chairman will inaugurate the fest at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
