THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted classical musician Palkulangara K Ambika Devi and actor EA Rajendran were declared as winners of the MS Subbulekshmi Award and O Madhavan Award respectively.
The awards were instituted by the Varkala-based Sree Krishna Natya Sangeetha Academy. Palkulangara K Ambika Devi was selected for the award based on her contributions to Carnatic music. The award comprises a statue of M S Subbulekshmi and Rs 10,001 as cash reward.
Meanwhile, E A Rajendran who has been at the helm of Kollam Kalidasa Kala Kendra for the last 25 years was selected for his overall contribution to the profession of acting. The award comprises a statue of O Madhavan and ` 5,001 as cash reward. The awards will be presented by Cultural Minister K C Joseph in a function at Varkala Municipal Town Hall on May 13.
