India Post offers Akshaya Tritiya sparkle

Sixty-one post offices, as against last year’s 29, are wooing Kerala with gold coins at six per cent discount

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For those who are eager to bring wealth and prosperity to one’s doorstep, going by the new-found aura of Akshaya Tritiya, India Post is all set to create avenues for  investment in gold coins. And to make the option really attractive for customers, a six per cent discount is being offered on purchases.

On Akshaya Tritiya, which falls on April 24, buying gold is an important part of the worship of Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth.  India Post is offering the special discount on gold coins of any denomination purchased through post offices during the period from April 1, 2012, to June 30, 2012. The coins are manufactured by the world-renowned Valcambi SA, Switzerland.

Gold coins are available with India Post Logo in tamper-proof packaging along with certification by internationally-recognised assayers in the denominations of 0.5 g, 1 g, 5 g, 8 g, 10 g, 20 g and 50 g of 24 carat with 99.99 per cent purity. India Post is into retailing of gold coins in association with World Gold Council and Reliance Money Infrastructure Limited.

The coins are being sold through more than 800 post offices across the country. Recognising the demand in the State, 61 post offices are now offering the sale of gold coins, as against 29 post offices last year.

These post offices include Thrissur HO, Thiruvalla HO, Chengannur HO, Ernakulam HO, Chalakudi HO, Edapally SO, Kottayam HO, Tripunithura, Changanacherry HO, Kochi HO, Ernakulam High Court SO, Ernakulam MG Road SO, Chavakkad SO, Gandhinagar SO, Guruvayur SO, Kunnamkulam HO, Calicut HO, Kalpetta HO, Feroke SO, Calicut Civil Station HO, Kallai SO, Calicut Beach SO, Kunnamangalam SO, Trivandrum GPO, Kollam HO, Pattom Palace, Trivandrum Medical College SO, Trivandrum Fort SO, Sasthamangalam SO, Thycaud HO, Neyyattinkara HO, Nedumangad SO, Kottarakkara HO, Karunagapally HO, Pathanamthitta HO, Adoor HO, Punalur HO, Alappuzha HO, Cherthala HO, Kanjirapally HO, Thodupuzha HO, Kattappana HO, Mavelikkara HO, Kayamkulam HO, Kakkanad SO, PD Hills SO, Kuruvilangad SO, Ettumanoor SO, Palai HO, Vaikom HO, Irinjalakuda HO, Kodungallur MDG, Kannur HO, Thalassery HO, Vadakara HO, Koyilandi HO, Ottapalam HO, Shoranur MDG, Pattambi MDG, Palakkad HO and  Alathur MBR HO.
