Trophy in memory of Radha Mohan Naresh

A trophy and an endowment fund will be instituted at the Sainik School, Kazhakoottam, in the memory of Second Lieutenant Radha Mohan Naresh, an alumnus who died fighting the 1971 War.

He was also the first martyr of the school, and his 41st death anniversary was observed on Monday. “The trophy and the endowment of Rs 1 lakh are being instituted by the soldier’s family,” Defence officials said in a statement.

A special assembly was held in the school auditorium, attended by Naresh’s mother Subhadramma, his sister Sreekala and his brother Praveen Naresh.

School Principal Group Captain B Janardhanan garlanded the bust of Naresh.

During the war, Naresh was posted in the Chamb Sector in Jammu and Kashmir. While leading his men against an enemy assault at the Munawar Tawi River, he was mortally wounded.
