Entries invited for Signs 2013

Entries are invited for Signs 2013, the seventh national documentary and short film festival for the prestigious John Abraham Award. The festival, to be held from February 10 to 15, 2013, is being organized by the Kerala chapter of Federation of Film Societies of India.

The documentaries and short films in video format should be submitted. While the duration of short films should be below 70 minutes, there is no duration limit for documentaries.  The best documentary and short film will be awarded ` 50,000 each. There will be another two categories ‘Cinema of Resistance’ and ‘Cinema of Experiment’ which will be common for both short films and documentaries and the selected ones will get Rs 25,000 each. Apart from the cash awards, the John Abraham National Award will have a statuette designed by C N Karunakaran’s and a citation. The prize money will be equally distributed between the director and the producer. Entries selected in the first round will be screened in the competition section and non-competition (focus) section.

The entries should be submitted on or before January 5. Applications can be submitted online at www.signsfestival.com.
