AKSC march against Putin’s visit

In protest against Russian president Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, the Anti-Koodankulam Solidarity Committee (AKSC) took out a protest march to the Honorary Russian Consulate here on Monday. The police blocked the march midway by placing barricades.

AKSC leaders alleged that the Russian Govt has been interfering in India’s internal affairs and causing economic loss to the people. “No proper security is being provided to women and children, but the govt here gets ready to welcome Putin by providing him tight security,” National Fish Workers’ Forum national secretary T Peter said.   “Manmohan Singh and Vladimir Putin should take decisions in favour of people of Koodankulam in their meeting,” said Saji, dist secretary of SDPI. He also said that strong protest would continue in Koodankulam, if fair decisions were not taken in this regard.

The march, consisting of around 15 activists, was taken out from Statue at 11.30 a.m.
