THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ernakulam district won the overall trophy in the State School IT Fest which concluded at Technopark here with a total of 85 points. While Kasargod reached the second position with 78 points, the third position was shared by three districts with 77 points - Kozhikode, Kannur and Wayanad.   Addressing the valedictory function of the IT fest and presenting the trophy to the winners, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that from next academic year ICT education would be extended to the LP level. Kerala was left behind in the IT sector since IT education was not given due importance in school curriculum, he said and added that the IT@School project was bringing a change to the scenario.

 Since the fest was free of stress and strain and meddling of parents it must be taken as a model by other school festivals, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said. The function was attended by DPI A Shajahan, VHSE Director Abdul Rahiman, IT@School Executive Director Anwar Sadath, M A Wahid MLA, Technopark CEO Girish Babu, SIET Director Babu Sebastian and others.
