THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special Squads will be formed in various districts of the state to probe into the rampant manufacture and use of explosive materials. This was announced by the state Police Chief Jacob Punoose in a press release, here on Thursday.

The squad was formed after it was found that manufacturing and use of explosives were thriving in certain districts during 2010-2012. The squads will be formed on district basis and headed by a DySP.

The department would provide cash awards up to Rs 10,000 for those who provide information on people who are involved in the manufacturing of bombs. Cash awards would be also conferred to those who inform the police about storage of bomb or materials which are used in the manufacture of bombs. The names of these informers will be withheld.
