THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M Gopalan Memorial scholarships instituted in the name of late police IG M Gopalan have been announced. The scholarships were declared for three children of police personnel who had scored highest marks in the SSLC examination held in the academic year 2010-11.
Divya K S, daughter of G Karunakaran, Grade ASI,Nedumangad won the first prize while Anagha K P, daughter of Sudhakaran, Senior Civil Police Officer, Thottilpalam won the second prize. Third prize was won by Amal Shaji,son of Bindu K A,Women Civil Police Officer,Kothamangalam.
The winners would receive cash awards worth Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.
DGP Jacob Punnoose would distribute the awards in a function to be held at the police headquarters on February 22.
