THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram will soon turn into an entertainment hub of the country with the Union Government according Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) Film and Video Park (KFVP) at Kazhakkoottam.

Kinfra Film and Video Park, an ISO 14001: 2004 certified company, is the first Infotainment Industrial Park in the country in a beautifully landscaped area of 75 acres of land. The Park is a fully-owned subsidiary of Kinfra, a statutory body of Kerala Government. With the SEZ status, the investors in the Park will be eligible for various tax and duty concessions and there will be no need to obtain a special licence for imports. They will get full exemption from Excise and Customs duties and a five-year exemption from Income Tax.

Kinfra Managing Director S Ramnath said that there is also a possibility for 100-per cent foreign direct investments in the Park.

KFVP is the first Infotainment Park in the country and India’s first SEZ for animation and gaming. This SEZ has been established to promote animation/gaming industries and studios in India. The KFVP is an attempt by the government to give infrastructure support to the film industry by providing an ideal centre for screen content development. The Park offers all modern amenities for the film industry and filmmakers.

It has the potential to transform itself into a world-class entertainment production hub. Kinfra is striving to tap some major investments from entertainment conglomerates from India and abroad and convince them to set up units in Kerala.

The Park caters to the industries in the entertainment and visual media and consists of modern processing labs, digital recording studios and outdoor and indoor shooting locales and an ‘Animation Zone’ comprising built-up modules to house export-oriented animation units.  As part of the second phase of development, an International Animation School will be established on the campus. The Park also has a restaurant, commercial complex, open-air theatre and artificial lakes.
