THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is playing a vital role in improving the facilities in government hospitals, said  B Unnikrishnan, district project manager, NRHM, here on Friday.

He was speaking after inaugurating a medical camp organised in connection with the three-day ‘Bharat Nirman’ public information campaign organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Thiruvananthapuram, at CSI Parish Hall, Kalliyoor. Through the financial aid and guidance provided by NRHM, many of our public health centres have proved their excellence at the national level, Unnikrishnan said. Pottavila Bhaskaran, member, Kalliyoor grama panchayat, said the medical camp organised by PIB in connection with Bharat Nirman is a fine example of social health improvement programme.

Doctors from the Government Hospital for Women and Children, Thycaud, examined the patients. Hundreds of people from Kalliyoor grama panchayat and surroundings attended the camp. Specialists in general medicine, orthopaedics and opthalmology also took part in the camp.
