THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LD Clerk Candidates’ Association, Thiruvananthapuram’ has requested the Public Service Commission (PSC) to review its decision to prepare the main list of only 3,000 rank holders and expand it by including 4,000 candidates.

Association office-bearers  Mukesh,Sunitha, Ranjith and Sreeraj said  here in a statement  that there has been no appointment to the LD clerk’s post for the last nine months in the absence of a PSC rank list. Following the Government’s recommendation, the PSC extended the LD clerk list in other districts and appointments are still being made from these  lists.

They expressed the apprehension that the lists in Thiruvananthapuram district will be   left with only 2,800 candidates after the certificate verification. They said they had submitted a memorandum to the PSC Chairman and chief minister in this regard.

So far, vacancies for 650 posts of LD clerks have been reported in the district. But the authorities are planning to prepare the list of around 3,000 candidates.  They said if the vacancies to be generated with the  unification of retirement date  by March 31 are to be considered , there will be over 1,300 vacancies in Thiruvananthapuram district. In that case, there should be at least 3,900 candidates in the main list to be prepared.

Last time, when the short list was prepared before the certificate verification, there were 1,300 candidates in the main list. But only 1,060 appointments were made out of the  main and supplementary list in two years and the list got expired on May 31, 2011. In that case, the list got expired even before the three-year period as there had been dearth of candidates in the main list.

The association office-bearers said this time, around 1,000 posts will be filled in the first phase of advice. As there are chances for a large number of retirement to take place in 2013-14, there will be no rank list available after two-and-a-half years. Saying that it was doubtful that the PSC would conduct another test for LD clerks in the district within three years, they requested the Commission to consider their request sympathetically.
