THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thampanoor police have arrested two persons for threatening and extorting money from a shopowner on Monday.
Rajesh, 28, alias Palbooth Rajesh, and Suresh, 39, alias Sukran Suresh, both hailing from Rajaji Nagar (Chenkalchoola Colony), were arrested for threatening and extorting money from Pradeep, who runs a provision store at Press Road, Pulimood, the other day.
Police said that the two had been demanding money from Pradeep for many days and resorted to extortion when he refused to give the amount.
Police said that both Suresh and Rajesh are history sheeters who are involved in various cases ranging from robbery and murder attempt.
They were arrested by a team led by Fort Assistant Commissioner M Radhakrishnan Nair.
