THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two among the three accused were arrested in connection with chopping the hand and injuring a minor boy, at Poovar here on the other day. Prasanth alias Sambhu, 30, hailing from Athiyannur and Jagadeesh, alias Jagathy, hailing from Kanjiramkulam, were arrested for allegedly chopping the hand of Prajith, 16, son of Raju Assary, Therivila Puthenveetil, Iruvaikkonam, Poovar and injuring him throughout his body.

 Ani, friend of Prasanth and Jagadeesh, is the third accused. The incident occurred two years back and the accused were absconding.

It was reported that the three accused rode to Prajith’s home and chopped his hand. Nobody else was present at the home at that time.

 The police said that Rajkumar, alias Tony, the neighbour of Assary, gave the ‘quotation’ to attack Prajith following rivalry towards the latter’s  father.

 Jagadeesh was arrested from a bar in the city, which led to Prasanth’s arrest. Both arrested were produced in court.

 Police said that Rajkumar was undergoing training in police camp.

Tipper Kills Man

Sathikumar, 42, of Kaippirikkonam, Vattiyoorkavu, was arrested  for reportedly killing a two-wheeler rider while driving a tipper lorry on Friday.

Muralidharan, 48, who lived in a rented house, Jameela Manzil, Thiruvallom, was the deceased. The incident occurred  at 10.30 am near Attakkulangara in the city.

Harassment Case

The police are on an intensive combing for the accused who sexually harassed a twelve-year- girl residing on Raj Bhavan Staff Quarters here.

 Benser, hailing from a coastal area, is the prime suspect in the case. The police said that Benser, the step-father of the girl, has been sexually harassing her for past few years. But it was only a few days back that the incident came to light while teachers developed some doubts about the girl’s behaviour, following which the police registered a case.

 Police suspect two others also, Binu and Vinod, both friends of Benser, to have role in harrassing the girl.  ‘’We are on a vigorous search focusing on the coastal areas like Pallithura and Poonthura since Benser is hailing from the coastal area,” said police.
