THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police and the bomb squad had a tough time on Saturday evening after the Ernakulam Police Control Room received a mobile phone call that a bomb has been placed at the North Block of the Secretariat.

Though two units of the bomb squad and police conducted a massive search for nearly an hour, it turned out to be a hoax. In the end, all heaved a sigh of relief as it became clear that it was only a prank played by a mentally unsound boy.

The Ernakulam Police Control Room reportedly received a call around 6.30 p.m. and the message was subsequently passed on to the police in the capital. On tracing, the police found out that the call came from the mobile number owned by a woman from Kalamaserry. Later it was confirmed that the call was made by her 13-year-old son
