THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 150th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore will be celebrated by the Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi with commemorative speeches, debates, Rabindra Sangeet, exhibitions, poetry recitals and book releases.
The celebrations, which will be held over five months, will begin on Tuesday and end on May 7. The event is being organised as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and will be held at the Gandhi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram and other educational institutions.
As part of celebrating the centenary of the national anthem, a cultural event attended by 100 young singers is also being planned during the five-month celebrations.
The musical event will be led by Sreekumaran Thampi. The inauguration will be held at the Gandhi Bhavan, Thycaud, at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
