THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than 10,000 memory cards, valued at Rs 31.5 lakh in the market, were seized by  the Air Customs Intelligence officials at the airport here on Thursday from a passenger hailing from Tamil Nadu.

 R Murugan, of Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, who arrived by a Silk Air flight at 10 a.m., was intercepted at the exit gate of  the baggage hall on suspicion, leading to the haul. Memory cards of 2 GB capacity, totaling 10,500, were recovered from him in two separate packs concealed in the socks worn by him and tightened with elastic bands.

 Further investigations are on while it is believed that Murugan was undoubtedly a carrier and part of a big racket. The search operations were led by additional commissioner T C Rajadas.
