Children’s film fest begins today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The children’s film festival being held under the joint auspices of the Kerala Children’s Film Society and the Kerala Chalachithra Academy will commence at  Kalabhavan theatre here on Monday. Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph will inaugurate the festival at 9 am.

 Shashi Tharoor MP will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony on Wednesday.

Society secretary Nandlal said at a news conference that ‘Keshu, a film by Sivan, ‘Hello’ by Santhosh Sivan, tele films directed by children like ‘Ammakkezhuthiya Kathu’,  ‘Cheruthullikal’ and ‘Bhoomi Mayumpol’ would be screened during the three-day festival.

V Athira of the Pala Higher Secondary School, Kannur, who directed the tele film ‘Ammakkezhuthiya Kathu’ had bagged the first prize in the state-level contest for children conducted by the Children’s Film Society.

‘Cheruthullikal’ by M Praveen of Cheruvathur Govt Higher Secondary School, Kannur, had secured the second prize.
