THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 140 crore World Bank aid as performance grant for Grama Panchayats and municipalities in the state.
The assistance is as part of the Kerala Local Government Service Delivery project, said an official release here on Monday.
The total amount for Grama Panchayts is `122 crore and for municipalities `18 crore.
The amount will be distributed to the LSGs at one time. Grama Panchayats should contact the respective Panchayat Deputy Director office for receiving the amount.
Some panchayats and municipalities will be sanctioned the grant only after they produce the clean audit certificate for 2008-09.
They include the panchayats of Munnar, Vattavada (Idukki), Thrippangod (Malappuram), Mangalpadi, Chemmandad, Delampadi, West Eleri, (Kasaragod) and the municipalities of Thrikkakkara and Neeleswaram.
