THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A ‘Vignanotsavam’ under the joint auspices of the State Institute of Languages and the Department of Museums and Zoos will begin at VJT Hall here on Thursday. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the event, which will conclude on March 10, said the organisers at a news conference here on Wednesday.

 The ‘Vignanotsavam’ includes a variety of programmes, among which a tribute to painting legend K C S Panicker - a painting exhibition - is the most noteworthy. Minister P K Jayalakshmi will inaugurate the painting exhibition on Thursday at 11 am. The exhibition will include works of renowned artists like Artist Namboodiri, M V Devan, Kanayi Kunhiraman, C N Karunakaran and Nemom Pushparaj.

 There will be an exhibition-cum-sale of around 2,700 encyclopaediac publications of the Language Institute with a discount of 20 to 50 per cent. There will be book releases and cultural programmes, including Kaviyarangu on all the ten days of the programme.

 Director, Department of Museums and Zoos, Dr K Udayavarman and Institute of Languages assistant director Dr Shibu, among others, attended the press conference.
