THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new bus terminal at Thampanoor will be commissioned in September, Transport Minister V S Sivakumar said here the other day after reviewing the progress of the work on the shopping complex and bus terminal.
The Minister said that he had asked officials to speed up work on the project. Thiruvananthapuram will witness a surge in development once the monorail project too becomes a reality. A facility linking the bus terminal, monorail and the railway station at Thampanoor will benefit commuters hugely, he said.
Safety precautions have been introduced at the construction site of the terminal with the cooperation of the Labour Department. The Department has also made arrangements to monitor the work, he said.
Ward councillor R Harikumar, KSRTC chairman and managing director K G Mohanlal and KTDFC superintending engineer Navakumar accompanied the Minister.
