THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Attukal Pongala ritual will be held from 10.15 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday. A total of 250 priests will be assigned to sprinkle holy water on the pongala preparations, the temple authorities said.

HOLIDAY

The Government has declared holiday on Tuesday afternoon for educational institutions and government offices within the Corporation limits.

TRAFFIC CURBS

The City Police have announced traffic regulations from 10 a.m. on Tuesday to Wednesday in connection with the pongala festival. Pilgrims arriving in vehicles  from Neyyattinkara should disembark at Karamana Junction and may park on Siva Theatre Road, road near the railway crossing, Karamana school compound, Poojappura Mandapam, Neeramankara NSS College Ground, Pappanamcode Sree Chitra Engineering College ground, Music College ground, Poojappura Maidan and Tagore Theatre ground.

Vehicles arriving from Sreekrayam and Vattappara adn Mannathala should deboard the pilgrims at Ayurveda College Junction and should park Chakka bypass.

 Vehicles arriving from Valiyathura and All-Saints College should pass through Enchakkal Junction and pilgrims should disembark at Padinjarekkottah. These vehicles should take the Palkulanagara route or Kothalam Junction route and may park at Enchakkal bypass.  Vehicles arriving from the Vizhinjam and Kovalam side should deboard the pilgrims at Ambalathara junction and park on the bypass road.

Vehicles arriving from Maruthoorkadavu side should park at the vehicles at Chirappalam Junction.

Vehicles arriving from Attakulangara, Maruthoorkadavu, Kamaleswaram, Padinjarekotta after 10 am on Tuesday will not be allowed to the Attukal temple premises. Traffic has been banned on the day from Attakulangara to Span Hospital, Manacaud.

 Vehicles arriving at Attakulangara after 10 am on Tuesday should deboard the pilgrims at Attakulangara Junction and take the Kothalam route to park the vehicles at Enchakal bypass. Other vehicles coming from Attakulangara side should take the Vettimurichakotta-Padinjarekotta-Enchakal route.  Vehicles coming from Kamaleswaram side after 10 am should deboard the pilgrims at Maharani Junction and take the MLA road route to park at Enchakkal bypass. Other vehicles should also take the MLA road route.           ENS

 Vehicles arriving from Maruthoorkadavu and Killipalam sides should deboard the pilgrims at Chirappalam junction and park on Karamana school ground or Siva Thetare road.

 KSRTC buses heading for the NH and MC roads and those heading to Nedumangad and Kattakkada should take the Thampanoor-Aristo Junction- Panavila-Bakery junction route.
