Italian Marines brought to Poojappura jail
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two Italian Marines, Latore Massimilano and Salvatore Girone, arrested on murder charges, were brought to Poojappura Central Prison here around 7 p.m.on Monday. The Marines were lodged in the cell which earlier housed former Minister R Balakrishna Pillai in the hospital block of the prison. They would be provided all facilities as directed by the court.
“They would be provided with Italian food from outside at the expense of Italian Consulate as directed by the court,” said Prisons ADGP, Alexander Jacob. There would be strict supervision to prevent the linking of other inmates with the Marines. Visitors would be allowed as per the court directive.
The room in which they were lodged has bed, fan and an attached bathroom with European closet. They were brought to the prison in a jeep accompanied by three police vehicles.
