THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some of the best-known Russian poems by Pushkin, Akhmatova and Yevtushenko were recited here by poets from Siberia on Tuesday.

 At a Russian poetry evening held at the Russian Cultural Centre, Olga Drastova from Barnaul recited Alexander Pushkin’s famous poem, ‘The Monument.’ She also presented Evgeny Yevtushenko’s poem dedicated to poet and compatriot Sergei Esenin. Galina Gamburg recited the poem ‘To Pushkin’ written by Esenin. Swetlana Sharipova presented Anna Akhmatova’s ‘The Poet.’

Poet D Vinayachandran inaugurated the event by reciting a poem of Esenin that he had translated into Malayalam.
