The Gavi girl is on cloud nine. Sridha Shivadas, the anchor-turned-heroine who played Kalyani opposite Kunchakko Boban’s Iravikuttan Pillai in ‘Ordinary’ is garnering rave reviews for her debut outing.

The audience who loved her performance in the film now calls her by the name ‘Gavi Girl’.Sridha is all excited when she speaks about the movie and how it came her way. “Acting was not even in the wildest of my dreams. One will not believe, I have only watched very few movies till my plus-two. Then, during my degree, I became the Vanitha photo Queen which gave me an opportunity to anchor Kairali TV’s ‘Tharolsavam’. It was a surprise for myself when I made it in the audition of ‘Ordinary’.”

Narrating her first scene in the movie, which is incidentally the starting scene in the movie, Sridha says, “It was a combination scene with Chackochan. I was extremely tensed, then  everyone, including the director, Chackochan and other actors encouraged me.” Sridha who hails from Uliyannoor in Aluva says actor Baburaj who also comes from Aluva was extremely helpful.

The actress is smitten by the scenic beauty of Gavi where the film was shot. “It was as though we had vacationed at some far-away fairyland.

There were no shops and people near our shooting location. Since there was no range for mobile phones, and no other alternative entertainment, we experimented cooking at the guest house at Kuttikanam, where we stayed. Chackochan, Jishnu and Ann were superb cooks. Chackochan’s wife Priya who visited us occasionally also surprised us with her culinary skills,” laughs Sridha who adds that shooting at the high range had its share of difficulties too. “In Gavi, rain comes unexpectedly and we had to postpone shooting several times.”

Sridha has completed her graduation in Microbiology from Sree Sankara College. The young actress, with her newly instilled confidence from ‘Ordinary’, is now planning to take a break from studies to concentrate more on films. As of now, she has not committed any new projects.
