Sai Baba birth fete: 87-hour Carnatic music recital begins at Sai Gramam

Two-hundred-and-fifty music students and 200 music teachers will participate in the event, which will be held up to November 14

This is a Carnatic music festival with a difference. Around 450 singers will take turns at a 87-hour recital at the Sai Gramam, Thonnackal, to mark the 87th birth anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba. Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph inaugurated the recital at the Sai Gramam on Thursday evening.

Two-hundred-and-fifty music students and 200 music teachers will participate in the event, which will be held up to November 14.

Every day, the music recital will start at 6 am with Sopana Sangeetham and end at 9 pm, Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust executive director K N Anandakumar said.

The schools participating in the event include the Sarangi School of Music, Keraladityapuram; Sruthi Kalakshetram; Nadanjali, Kowdiar; and the Kavalam School of Music. Some of the best known singers are also participating in the event.
