Quota issue: Call to sack VC

Following allegations that the Kerala University was flouting reservations norms in appointments, several organisations have come forward against the move, demanding the removal of Vice-Chancellor A Jayakrishnan.

Samvarana Samudaya Munnani general secretary and former minister Kutty Ahamed Kutty said that the university was trying to scuttle the reservation quota by quoting a High Court order that a single vacancy against a single sanctioned post should be treated as an open post and that reservation norms cannot be applied to the same.  He said that the varsity was trying to make appointments by creating single vacancies.

‘’The university is only twisting the High Court order for denying reservation,’’ Latheen Katholika Aikya Vedi president A James Fernandes said.
