Traffic has been restricted from Vellayambalam to Thycaud as part of the road renovation till November 30.
Vehicles will be allowed only along one of the lanes. Police advised the public to use alternative roads till the work is completed.
Health Minister V S Sivakumar inaugurated the renovation work on Tuesday. The road from Vellayambalam to Thycaud flyover will be spruced up at a cost of Rs one crore.
Bituminous Macadam and Bituminous Concrete (BM and BC) technology will be used to ensure a guarantee of seven years.
