The state government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to dependents of those who died in the gas tanker lorry blast at Chala in Kannur last week.
Fixing the responsibility of the IndianOil Corporation (IOC) in the mishap, the state decided to ask the oil firm to provide suitable job to a member each of the affected families.

Those who sustained 40 per cent and above burn injuries will be given Rs 5 lakh, while those with below 40 per cent burns will get Rs 2 lakh. The medical expense of all the injured is being borne by the government. A three-tier package has been announced to take precautionary measures to avoid such mishaps in the Chala-Nadal sector.

A solatium of Rs 5 lakh has been allotted from the Chief Minister’s relief fund to the family of Ramachandran Nair of Kadappal, Kalavooor, Alappuzha, who died in a road accident involving his autorickshaw and the official car of Minister Manjalamkuzhy Ali last week, according to a press release from the Minister’s office.
