Shirdi Sai Mandir anniversary fete

Health Minister V S Sivakumar will inaugurate the fifth anniversary of the Shirdi Sai Mandir at the Sai Gramam, Thonnackal, on Friday. There will be special poojas and bhajans at the Sai Gramam from September 28 to September 30.

 A 1,800-kilogramme marble idol of Shirdi Sai Baba was installed here five years ago under the supervision of priests from Shirdi. The Shirdi Sai Temple at the Sai Gramam also features a Shirdi Mandap featuring 18 granite pillars.

 Cultural programmes are also planned over the three days, Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust executive director K N Anandakumar said. A ‘Sangeetha Sudha’ by Carnatic vocalist Prof Omanakutty and party, a flute concert by Kudamaloor Janardanan, a music programme by Kayamkulam Babu and Poornachandran, ‘Tholpavakkoothu’ by K Viswanatha Pulavar, Chakyarkoothu by Margi Narayana Chakyar and Kathakali by Margi are some of the programmes planned.

 Devotees will also be given a Rs 1 coin specially blessed in Shirdi.
