Sri Sadhu Gopalaswamy Trust in the city is organising a Himalaya Rishi Sangamam from November 15 to 10 at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan. More than thirty sanyasis from various parts of Himalaya will participate in the meet and will give talks on Upanishads, Gita and Brhamasutram. The highlight of the meet will be the Brihadaranyaka Satram, everyday sessions in which the sanyasi scholars will give discourses on Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, which is generally considered to be the most important of the Upanishads.
Sri Medhanada Puri Maharaj from the Kailash Asram, Rishikesh, will preside over the function. The group will be lead by Sri Haribrahmendrananda Swami, head of the Adi Shankara Brahmavidya Peeth, Uttarkashi. Every day of the meet there will be talks by scholars followed by a question and answer session. On the first day there will be a talk based on ‘Yath Sakshath Aparokshath Brahma’ by Swami Medhanada Puri Maharaj. On the second day Swami Haribrahmendranandaji Maharaj will give a talk based on ‘Ghata bhashyam (Udgitha brahmanam)’. The other important programmes include: a talk based on ‘Atma Ithyeva Upasitha’ (Vidhya Sutram) by Sri Swamy Sarvanandagiriji Maharaj, talk based on ‘Graha Athigraha’ by Brahmachari Brahmathma Swarupji, talk based on ‘Vidvath Sanyasam Yajnavalkyo Vijahara Vyuthayatha Bhikshacharyam Charanthi’ by Swami Chinmayananda Puri Maharaj.
The programme starts at 6 am and will end with Santhipadam at 6 pm during all days of the meet. It’s for the second time that the disciples of the late Sadhu Gopalaswamy are organising a meet in the city.
The first meet was conducted two years back at the Sadhu Gopalaswamy Ashram in Vattiyoorkkavu.
