City getting ready for Navarathri fete

The city is getting ready for Navarathri celebrations with various programmes.

The Navarathri Trust is organising music concerts at Navarathri Mandapam, Fort, from October 5 to 13. There will be music concerts by Prince Rama Varma, Parassala B Ponnammal, Trichur V Ramachandran, C Saroja and C Lalitha, Jayasree Aravind, T V Gopalakrishnan, Sanjay Subramaniyam, Mavelikkara P Subramaniam and Amrutha Venkitesh.

 Karikkakathamma Navarathri Music Festival organised by Karikkakom Chamundi Temple Trust will be held from October 5 to 14.  Navarathri cultural meet would be inaugurated by Congress leader and former minister V M Sudheeran on October 5. M A Vahid MLA would preside over.

 The music festival and art events would be inaugurated by cine artiste Harisree Asokan. MLAs K Muraleedharan and Palode Ravi, among others, would take part.

 Minister V S Sivakumar would inaugurate Mahanavami-Vijayadasami celebrations on October 13. Noted persons in art, cultural and social fields would be honoured at the function. 

 On October 14, Naduvath Mana N V Krishnan Namboothiri, Minister of State for HRD Shashi Tharoor, Kavalam Narayana Panicker, Justice D Sreedevi, Mayor K Chandrika and cine artiste Kollam Thulasi would lead ‘Vidyarambham’.

 Minister K C Joseph would inaugurate ‘Vidyarambha Mahotsavam’ at Iranimuttam Thunchan Smaraka Samithi on October 3.

KPCC general secretary Thampanoor Ravi would preside over. Poet and lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi would be the chief guest. Singer Kallara Gopan would be honoured with ‘Gayakarathnam’ award at the function.

 There would be ‘Acharyapranamam’ on October 5. The children who would participate in ‘Vidyarambham’ would turn up for the function. ‘Vidyarambham’ would start from 7 am on October 14. 

 ‘Vidyarambham’ in music, dance and painting would also be held, said Thunchan Smaraka Samithi secretary T G Harikumar.

 V R Prabodhachandran Nair, D Babu Paul, Mavelikkara Achuthan, M R Thampan, Malayinkeezh Gopalakrishnan, Attukal T Damodaran Namboothiri, Kattoor Narayana Pillai, Karaykkamandapam Vijayakumar, P Suseela Devi, Sreeram, Rajasree Warrier and R S Lekshmi Nair would lead.  Registration for ‘Vidyarambham’ should be done in advance.
