Keralites to take part in Deaflympics

Jijo Kuriakose and Neethu U V from the state will participate in Deaflympics 2013 to be held in Bulgaria from July 26.

Kuriakose, from Idukki, will participate in athletic events, while Neethu, from here, will take part in badminton.

The two were selected after the trial selection held in New Delhi on June 26 and 27.

Athletes selected from the Deaf Meet held in Bangalore in April was called for the trial selection in Delhi.

A total of 26 athletes have been selected from the country for the Deaflympics.

Neethu had earlier participated in the third Asia Pacific Deaf Badminton Championship in Indonesia in 2010 and also in the third World Deaf Badminton Championship held in South Korea in 2011.
