App for alerts on Technopark jobs

An app developed by city-based freelance app developer Naveen Naushad promises to be a one-stop solution for being informed about everything related to Technopark, be it job alerts, news or events.

Thinking how and where to hunt for a dream job in the capital’s IT hub? How to know the latest happenings in the techie world? In the smartest way, ‘Technopark Times’ will keep you stay tuned to all these with the android-supported gizmo in your palm. An app developed by city-based freelance app developer Naveen Naushad promises to be a one-stop solution for being informed about everything related to Technopark here, be it job alerts, news or events.

Released barely a week ago, Naveen speaks about his newly-developed app, intended mainly for alerting techies on new job openings. “I found that each day, some seven or eight job openings are reported by the 340 companies in Technopark. But the fact is, those who do not have access to a computer and internet connection miss out those opportunities, as many in this field are likely to own and use smart phones. This led me to develop an app for the purpose,” explains Naveen.

The free app gives automatic alerts on new job vacancies, features the complete list of companies in Technopark with contact details and also facilitates notifications for all or select categories. The content is accessed from the official website of Technopark and two other sites, technoparktoday.com and technoparkjobs.info.

Naveen, an early bird in app development, started with creating desktop applications and switched over to mobile phone app development well before it turned a fad among tech-savvy citizens here. Since 2010, he began to use android phones and in the next year, his first mobile phone app was out.

A self-learner, Naveen imbibed the skills through online tutorials and actively participated in related online communities in order to clear doubts.

Phone Genie, the second app developed by Naveen, has crossed five lakh users since its launch in 2011. Dedicated to mobile phone specifications, the app keeps the user updated about the latest trends in mobile phones and carry out comparisons.

Another big draw is the Reddit Illustrated, which brings the content of reddit.com to the user. The eight apps he has developed so far have over 12 lakh users across the globe now.

The 30-year-old computer science grad from Sree Chitra Tirunal College of Engineering finds doing freelancing advantageous, as during times when IT sector jobs were badly hit in the global recession, he could nonchalantly move ahead.

“I am thinking of starting an app-development company in future, provided all things fall in place. I sense a huge scope in android-based app development as it is available at an affordable price range to the users,” Naveen says.
