Delay in Announcing Results Lands KU BTech Students in the Soup

The delay on the part of the Kerala University in publishing the revaluation results of sixth semester BTech examination, conducted in April-May 2013, has forced the students to write the supplementary exams of that semester at a time when their eighth semester exams are already underway.

This has put the students in a tight spot forcing them to run from pillar to post to get their revaluation results published on time. While their sixth semester supplementary exam commences on April 29, the regular exams for eighth semester have already started.

The BTech students say they were forced to pay the supplementary exam fees even without knowing whether they have passed or failed the exams.

The students, who have already paid Rs 200 per paper for revaluation, now have to shell out supplementary exam fees ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 1,400.

“The results are almost ready. Whoever comes to the University will get to know their results,” said a University official when asked about the plight of the students.

However, the students say it is practically impossible for them to visit the University and check out the results when they barely have enough time to prepare for their regular exams.

“We are allowed to visit the revaluation section only after 3.30 pm by taking a pass from the inquiry section. Only if we are lucky will we get a chance to make an inquiry as the section office remains deserted most of the time,” said Vishal Nikhil, a final-year B Tech student from the P A Aziz College of Engineering and Technology.

He added that even if the results are out, students will have to wait for the memo to arrive via post to make necessary corrections in the mark list.

Sometimes , there is a chance that the memo might get lost or would not reach the addressee on time.
