A criminal who was arrested under the Goonda Act escaped from police custody on Friday night. As many as four cops attached to Mannanthala police station, including Sub Inspectors, were suspended following this.
The police had nabbed murder accused Manoj, 32, alias Kakotta Manoj based on orders from the District Collector.
Manoj escaped from the police station at 7.45 pm on Friday after fooling the cops.
He ran out of the station and escaped with a friend, who was waiting on a motorcycle.
Suspended policemen include SI Vincent M S, SI Satheeshan and two civil policemen Rasheed and Rajan.
