After a gap of nearly one-and-a-half months, the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare here has got a person at the helm with District Collector Biju Prabhakar assuming charge as its administrator on Wednesday.

The day-to-day functioning of the Council was in a state of disarray after former District Collector K N Satheesh was given another posting more than a month ago.

Speaking to mediapersons, Biju Prabhakar blamed the staff of the Council for not informing him about the administrator’s post lying vacant.

Prabhakar said that the governing council would be reconstituted within the next 45 days as per the directives of the High Court.

With the Collector assuming charge, the uncertainty over the fate of around 52 children who were abandoned at the ‘Ammathottil’ of the Council has been put to rest.

The District Collector also spent some time with the children before leaving.
