It was flagged off by Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis, who urged everyone to come together, setting aside caste and religious barriers

‘Protect Democracy, Exercise Your Franchise’ - that was the message given at a march organised by the P N Panicker Foundation on Tuesday, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala.

The march, along the MG Road, was flagged off by Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis from the Martyrs’ Column, Palayam. Cleemis urged everyone to come together, setting aside caste and religious barriers, in the mammoth exercise to elect the rulers of the largest democracy in the world.

The younger generation especially should exercise their right to vote, the Cardinal said.

He also lauded the efforts of the Foundation in strengthening the faith in democracy in the people. Wednesday’s was also the fourth such march organised by the Foundation to generate awareness among the public about elections, the Foundation said in a statement.
