Youths Rob Gold, Cash Posing as Sales Reps

They also visited some nearby houses where they didn’t make an attempt, maybe owing to the presence of male members

Three burglars who posed as sales representatives got away with Rs 35,000 and gold ornaments worth five sovereigns from the house of a doctor in Sreekaryam on Thursday morning.

The Sreekaryam Police said that the incident occurred in the house of Prasoon, 31, of Aswathi Bhavan, 21 A, Bapuji Nagar.

Prasoon, who is practising at a private hospital in the city, was at his workplace at the time of the incident.

“His wife Aneeta and their three-year-old kid were in the house when three youths, all aged below 30, arrived to sell some books around 10.30 am,” the police said.

When she opened the door they barged into the house, following which she ran to the kitchen with the kid and locked the door from inside.

Later, after around 20 minutes, as she felt they had left, she came out and telephoned Prasoon.

Prasoon reported the matter to the police, following which a massive search was launched in the city, but the accused could not be traced.

The woman suffered a bruise on her head after she was pushed to the floor in the melee.

The Dog Squad and the fingerprint experts visited the house.

The police said the burglars had also visited some nearby houses where they didn’t make an attempt, maybe owing to the presence of male members.
