The State Government will promote all modern initiatives in the higher education sector, including journalism, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Speaking after inaugurating the rooftop open stage at the Press Club here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the government allocation of Rs 20 lakh to the Journalism Institute at the Press Club was part of this decision.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts in developing the open stage as a new model. The audio visual theatre as part of the open stage was inaugurated by Chemmanur International Jewellers chairman Boby Chemmanur.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a play centre for children by trying his hand at the recreational activities set up on the rooftop.
Thiruvananthapuram Road Development Company Ltd (TRDCL) MD Anil Kumar Pandala and Press Club office-bearers P P James, Biju Chandrasekhar, Jayan Menon and Ayyappan were also present.
