Raids on Offices of Local Cable TV Channels

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Anti-Piracy Cell of the State Police conducted raids on the offices of local cable TV channels in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts.

The action followed complaints on the telecast of films violating copyright and pornographic movies, Cell SP B Varghese said in a statement here on Saturday.

Stop memo was issued to some channels in Varkala and Ayoor which lacked the necessary registration certificates. Action against illegal channels will be intensified and inspections will continue. The public can lodge complaints in this regard over 0471 2460001,  9497981037.

Held for Alleged Attempt to Rape

Venjaramoodu police nabbed a 32-year-old man on Saturday in an attempt to rape case filed by a middle-aged woman.

According to the police, Azeem of Konchira was arrested for alleged attempt to rape a 34-year-old woman from Anchal, who is currently residing in Koppam.

“According to the complaint, the accused forcefully entered the woman’s house on Saturday around 8.30 am and attempted to rape her. The case was filed around 12 noon. It was found that both of them were in a relation for the past few days. The victim is living away from her husband along with her daughter, following family issues,” the police said.

The accused is also married and has one daughter.

“He will be produced before the court on Sunday,” the police said.

Gold Chain Snatched

Two motorbike-borne youth snatched a five sovereign  gold chain from a woman near Velavoor in Venjaramoodu on Saturday.

According to Venjaramoodu police, the youths reached on a Pulsar bike and snatched the chain of Shalini,33, when she parked her scooter to drop her friend. 

“The youths snatched the chain and fled from the spot,” the police said.
