THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A cultural evening organised on the sidelines of the 16th state annual meet of Kudumbashree Mission was inaugurated by singers Chandralekha and V T Murali at Sooryakanthi Ground, Kanakakkunnu here on Thursday.

In her inaugural speech, Chandralekha lauded the efforts of Kudumbashree women who dared to showcase their talents through different ventures than from remaining as homemakers alone. She also thanked all who supported her so far after a song she sang turned viral on a social networking site.

The programme was presided over by Bindu Krishna, executive committee member of Kudumbashree. Kudumbashree executive director K B Valsalakumari welcomed the gathering. Manjula Bharathi, chief operating officer; Geetha Philip, district mission coordinator, and programme officers of Kudumbashree Mission were present. Kudumbashree teams from various districts will present cultural programmes every the evening, till coming Thursday. A food festival is also being held alongside.
