Rain: One Killed, Holiday Today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Collector Biju Prabhakar has declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in the district in the wake of heavy rainfall over the past two days which claimed one life in Nedumangad taluk.

 The district administration has asked all revenue officials and police and Fire and Rescue Services to be on alert due to the possibility of landslides and floods. One person was killed when a house collapsed at Uzhamalakkal village in Nedumangad Taluk, said P B Pushpalata, Deputy Collector (Disaster Management).

On Friday, 11 cm of rain was recorded in Thiruvananthapuram leading to water-logging in many low-lying areas.

The Met Department has forecast spells of thundershowers in Thiruvananthapuram City and neighbouring areas till Monday morning.
