Epidemics: Kochi Corporation Geared up

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the heavy rains, the City Corporation has geared up to curb the spread of epidemics. The Corporation will hold medical camps at places which were inundated following the heavy rains.

“We will coordinate the service of doctors of various government hospitals in the city so as to detect and prevent the spread of diseases,” said Health Standing Committee chairperson of the City Corporation S Pushpalatha. She added that camps are also intended to create awareness among people about epidemics.

However, the disaster relief wing of the Corporation has not started full-fledged functioning to tackle flood situations in the city. “The Corporation will train more personnel to ensure the functioning of the disaster wing at the earliest,” she added.

The Corporation will initiate the cleaning of the city from August 25 as the part of cleaning measures after rains.
