The district-level inauguration of the traffic awareness programme organised by the Police Department along with Motor Vehicles Department was done by DySP Y R Restum here on Thursday.
The programme witnessed the participation of around 300 autorickshaw and taxi drivers of Kattakkada, Malayinkeezhu, Vilappil and Neyyar Dam police station limits. It aimed at creating awareness among the drivers to avoid accidents while driving and to follow traffic rules. A detailed lecture was given on various topics, including problems of drunken driving, using mobile phones while driving and not obeying traffic rules.
The awareness class that was started at Kattakkada Devi auditorium on Thursday will be held in other parts of the district too.
