Tharoor Comes Out Against Divakaran

Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Shashi Tharoor said that he was intrigued by CPI Legislature Party leader C Divakaran

Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Shashi Tharoor said that he was intrigued by CPI Legislature Party leader C Divakaran’s statement the other day in which he had offered to reproduce late Sunanda Pushkar’s alleged tweet announcing her husband’s responsibility in the IPL controversy.

“We would be very interested to see such a tweet, since her tweets are a matter of public record and no such tweet exists. Her only tweets on the subject say exactly the opposite of what Divakaran claims,” Tharoor’s office said.

Divakaran on Wednesday told a press meet  that they (CPI) would reproduce Sunanda Pushkar’s tweet on Tharoor claiming that she was owning up the blame for Tharoor’s involvement in the IPL scam.

Divakaran had also opined that the Congress party would be insulting the capital district if they field Tharoor once again here in the ensuing LS polls.

Reproducing the original tweets, Tharoor said that facts were clear and Sunanda had clearly denied the statement wrongly attributed to her in the media, a day before her tragic demise.

“We are used to Communist politicians being unable to check the facts, but we would hope that responsible media would report such matters with a modicum of accuracy, especially since the evidence is available to anyone,” Tharoor said.
