KSWDC Plans Host of Programmes

A seminar will be held in association with Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on February 25 on women empowerment. Minister M K Muneer will inaugurate the morning session of the seminar on ‘Whether the media fulfill their responsibility towards women’ at 10.30 am at the Press Club hall.

Press Club president P P James will preside. Asian School Of Journalism chairman Sasikumar will deliver the keynote address.

T N Seema MP will inaugurate the afternoon session on ‘The role of Kerala in the empowerment of women’ at 2 pm. Press Club secretary P Biju Chandrasekhar will preside. MG University Pro Vice-Chancellor Sheena Shukkur will deliver the keynote address.

On March 7, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a workshop on ‘The laws which ensure the safety at workplace’ at CoBank auditorium here at 10.30 am. M K Muneer will preside.

A Rajasthan woman who was a victim of gangrape and whose case   resulted in the landmark Vishaka judgment to ensure safety of women at workplace, and her counsel Kavitha Mukherjee will be the chief guests. Minister P K Jayalekshmi, K Muralidharan MLA, Mayor K Chandrika, among others, will take part

. It will be followed by a workshop for the chairpersons and members of complaint cells of public and private sector offices at Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts.

The workshop will be held at Kannur on March 25 for Kannur and Kasargod districts, at Kozhikode on April 3 for Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, at  Thrissur on April 10 for Thrissur and Palakkad districts, at Ernakulam on April 24 for Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts, at Kottayam on May 6 for Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta districts.

On March 8, there will be a walkathon in the capital city. Around 3000 women are expected to participate in the event.
