Youth Held for Bid to Molest Doctor

A youth who allegedly attempted to molest a woman doctor of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) on the hospital premises was arrested by the Medical College police on Monday.

A youth who allegedly attempted to molest a woman doctor of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) on the hospital premises was arrested by the Medical College police on Monday.

 The arrested was Ayyappan, 27, of Padmavilasam House, Kilimanoor, a temporary driver with the KSEB office at Medical College.

 Police said that the lady doctor was attacked around 8 pm on Sunday when she was walking towards the hospital building. “When she reached near the KSEB office the accused caught her. The woman raised an alert following which he escaped,” the police said.

 The accused, who was in an inebriated state, was nabbed by a search launched by the police and hospital staff. The doctor identified the accused, who was was produced in court and remanded on Monday.

Securityman Dies

In another incident, a private security staff collapsed to death while on duty at Vanchiyoor on Monday morning. The deceased was Vimalkumar, 54, of Odankuzhi Lane, Thirumala. He was assigned to guard a residence attached by a bank, the police said.

Man Arrested

A man who attempted to molest a 16-year-old girl was nabbed by the Thiruvallom Police. The arrested was Sahadevan, 60, of Koonuvilakam House, Pachalloor, Thiruvallom.

 Police said that the accused had tried to assault the girl, who is suffering from a mental ailment, on Sunday noon. “The girl’s mother had died and she was staying at their aunt’s house. Sahadevan was building a house near it,” the police said. The girl’s aunt, in her complaint, said that he had earlier also tried to assault her.
