Coming down heavily on those Congress leaders supporting liquor lobby in the state, Latin Archdiocese Archbishop Soosai Pakiam said that KPCC president V M Sudheeran is right in his stand in opposing renewal of licence to 418 bars which have been closed down.

The Latin Archdiocese Archbishop  said that those in power are not realising the pitfalls of promoting liquor in society and the stand taken by Sudheeran is the right one.

‘’It is the ideal time to introduce liquor ban in the state in a phased manner. The bar owners had 20 years to provide the adequate facilities which they failed.

Now, the argument that they will do it in six months is aimed at befooling people,’’ said Soosai Pakiam, while speaking to a private television channel.
